Heavy Duty Tattoo Aftercare

90% of the healing will be determined by how the tattoo was applied. You don’t need to do much at all.

Day One

When you get home, take off the bandage.

If you were bandaged, remove it as soon as you are in a safe and clean place. Wash your hands like you mean it.

Do Not Re-bandage.

Carefully wash your new tattoo with your clean hands using mild soap and warm water.

Make sure the tattoo is clean of any leftover ointment, pigment, plasma or blood.

Pat dry.

Pat your clean tattoo dry with a clean towel or, preferably, a clean paper towel.

Baby it!

Keep an eye on your new tattoo as it may need to be cleaned once or twice in the next 24 hours.

Clean hands, warm water, mild soap, paper towel, don’t fuck with it.

Day Two

Keeping it clean.

It is very common to need to clean your tattoo first thing when you wake up the next day.

Clean hands, warm water, mild soap, paper towel, don’t fuck with it. Don’t listen to your friends.

DOn’t over do it.

Different people heal different parts of the body at different rates.

Once the tattoo has stopped weeping plasma, you no longer need to wash it as described above.

Listen to your body and your tattooer, not your friends.

Alleviating dryness.

At this stage, the tattoo may feel sore and dry. We recommend using H2OCEAN’S OCEAN FOAM.

Shake the aerosol can for best results, apply a small amount of foam to the tattoo.

If it feels nice and relieving, that’s perfect! Reapply as needed for dryness and itchiness.

IF THE LOTION BURNS, IT’S TOO EARLY TO APPLY. WAIT 4 TO 24 HOURS BEFORE APPLYING AGAIN.

WHAT NOT TO DO:

DON’T PICK AT IT.

It might itch. Leave it alone, or put a little H2Ocean on it.

DON’T OVER WET IT.

It might hurt. Don’t put too much H2Ocean (or anything else) on it.

Don’t jelly it up with snake oils, ointments, or tonics.

Don’t swim, don’t tan, and don’t pick at it. Don’t even think about it!

YOUR TATTOOS AGE AS GRACEFULLY AS YOU DO.

Even after healing, exposure to sunlight and other elements may cause harm to the skin you wear your tattoo on.

“Try and keep it out from under freight trains; can’t guarantee it past about six months after you’re dead.”

DON’T BE A STRANGER!
